OSCAR MPE Workbench
Stable. Dependable. Versatile. Open. Easy to use. Cheap to run. The greatest
transaction processing environment. Don't pretend you don't know what we're
talking about. It's all right. We're in on the secret, too.
It hasn't always been easy to sing the praises of MPE in mixed company. But
with Premier's OSCAR, you can finally show everyone the stuff that MPE is
made of.

OSCAR Security Object for C/S
Authorized use of Servers by Clients, this is not an easy layer of security
to figure out. Premier has developed a special server application called the
Security Object. This server acts as a companion to your business
application, storing the list of services and linking them to valid users.
Users, the groups they belong too, and their logon/password information are
stored in a database on an organizations host platform. Client applications
(either directly or via the application server) validate themselves with the
Security Object. The Security Object stores a pointer to each and every
valid service that a client is authorized to use.
The Security Object provides a real-time set of APIs which allow for client
and server applications a means to validate that a service request, for a
given user, is valid thus providing a level of transaction based
authorization often hard coded into each and every application.
The Security Object works with the Premier RPC for MPE/iX and the
ActiveWorks Information Broker technology.
